Inspired by the song "The Difficulty of Crossing a Field" written by David Lang, I researched into its origins. The song was written for an operatic rendition composed of short stories written by civil war veteran Ambrose Pierce,1888. The story was about a plantation owner who gets mysteriously killed by his slaves. In this performance I play the plantation owner, sit in a rocking chair who goes to cross the field and is justly killed. The aerial silks were a metaphor of the field, that I climb and come back down dead.
