Cork based interdisciplinary artist, Vicki Davis, holds a B.A(Hons)in Visual Art with First Class Honours from TUDublin, B.A.V.A, Sherkin Island.
Vicki Davis is a Visual Artist based in Cork. She graduated from the Technological University Dublin on Sherkin Island in West Cork 2020. Her practice is multidisciplinary spanning performance art, film, experimental sound and sculptural installation. She enjoys blurring the genres and describes her films as filmed performance art - edited. She sees participation as a medium within her artwork and enjoys collaborating with other artists. Vicki has ben exploring expanded cinema where she activates the film with live performance. In her work she highlights social issues through a motivational lens intrigued by the brain, dance, well-being and animal welfare . Her work encompasses a research-led practice while also intuitively focusing on introspective cathartic artworks that yield a therapeutic process by getting tangled and untangled in a ball of wool.
Her film TryTryAgain was funded by the Arts Council of Ireland Agility Award 2021 and ran on a loop for Mental Health Awarness Day, Uillinn, West Cork Art Centre, it also screened in an earlier adaption for Indie Cork Film Festival,2022 and later for Cinesalon 4 at the Guesthouse Projects, 2024. Vicki's graduate film installation Vort_i_city was shortlisted for the RDS Visual Art Award in 2020. She has exhibited work for Sample-Studios Summer Exhibition, CIACLA Irish Contemporaries in L. A. and as part of Pluck Projects Fall/Out Strand for Cork Midsummer Festival supported by Cork City Council Arts Office Project Award . Vicki was also awarded the Cork City Council Bursary for practice research and the Arts Council Professional Development Award.
